Include these in your wife’s prenatal care

A woman’s Life’s pregnancy phase is full of ups and downs. However, most women love the miracle of giving Life and are upbeat about their pregnancy as they carry their child in their womb. But what about men? Their part is limited to biology, and they don’t suffer from morning sickness or nausea. However, that doesn’t mean that fathers don’t have any role to play. A would-be father is as nervous about the coming baby as the mother. They have insecurity, questions, excitement, and more. Yet, men shouldn’t forget their pregnant wives, who are thinking about their future babies. Their pregnant wife requires the utmost love, care, and support, and you should be there throughout, giving them the best prenatal care. How? By including these things in her prenatal care.

Communication

Both of you must feel overwhelmed and anxious, whether this is your first or second child. She might be scared of many things and bottle them up. Don’t let her do this. Instead, give her your attention and let her talk about the various things she fears. Similarly, if you are feeling nervous or scared, talk to her. Communication between you two should be strong to devise a solution for everything.

Going with her to every prenatal appointment

A pregnant woman has to go through multiple doctor’s appointments and tests. Make sure you accompany her to all of them. Fix an appointment that works for both of you, and take the time to go with her. This way, you will know how the pregnancy is progressing and hear her worries. That way, you can comfort her and also voice out any issues or fears you have.

Taking care of her nutritional need

A pregnant woman needs 500–600 calories more than a non-pregnant woman. And this should include foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Thus, ensure your pregnant wife eats a healthy, balanced, and home-cooked meal. Ensure she doesn’t skip a meal, or if something makes her nauseous, make sure anything she eats is free of that item.

Take charge of her meals to ensure she is eating and drinking correctly, as nutrients are essential for a healthy baby and pregnancy.

Taking care of her wants

There are a few things that a woman needs to make her pregnancy comfortable. For instance, she might require a pregnancy pillow or maternity clothes. So ensure she has access to these things. Or she might crave something spicy or sweet, and if her doctor says it’s okay, make sure she eats that.

Going to prenatal yoga or workout

There are gyms, yoga studios, and certified doctors who provide prenatal yoga. Enroll your wife in the class (Unless the doctor advised bed rest), and take her to the course daily. Being active during her pregnancy will help her stay healthy and have a standard vaginal delivery. It also keeps stress and emotional anxiety at rest. Therefore, take her to every class and encourage her to work out at home too. You can become her yoga partner for days when there is no class, or she is too tired to travel. At such times, small movements or walks are perfect for her.

Letting her go to pee without judgment

Pregnant women have to pee every 30-minutes or so because the baby puts pressure on the bladder. Therefore, if she goes to the bathroom often at home, during a movie, or when you are on a road trip, let her. Don’t judge her, pass a snarky comment, or roll your eyes. You may mean no harm, but such gestures hurt her, especially when going to the restroom often is hellish.

You cannot remove the pain or uneasiness your wife is feeling during the pregnancy. But you can make it better by being there and supporting them. Understand their needs and comfort them through their sleepless nights. Also, ensure that after the baby comes, you help her out equally.
