Approximately 15% of couples in the United States would love to bring a baby into the world, but are unable to. Female infertility is one of the biggest reasons for this. Suffering with infertility and having difficulty conceiving can be very stressful. While there are many possible causes of female infertility, there are also many things you can do to try and improve or even fix the issue. With just a few lifestyle changes, some medical intervention, or wellness treatments such as fertility acupuncture, you can have the child and life that you’ve always wanted. Here are some tips to help improve female fertility and hopefully get started on the family you’ve always wanted.

Eat a Healthy Amount of Good Foods

One of the best things you can do for your body is to properly nourish it. Feel free to eat a robust amount at every meal. You should make sure that you are getting the right amount of vitamins D and C, protein, zinc, and iron. If you don’t get enough of any of these nutrients then your body could react by creating longer menstrual cycles. This means that you won’t ovulate as much as you should, and this can lead to having trouble conceiving. On top of that, having enough of these nutrients can help you avoid miscarirage if you do manage to get protein. Meat, beans, dairy, fish, and eggs are all great components of a fertility diet. Another tip is to switch your biggest meal from dinner to breakfast. That will set your day up with the right nourishment.

Lay Off the Alcohol and Caffeine

Alcohol consumption can harm your ability to get pregnant. Alcohol has an effect on your estrogen levels. This can prevent egg implantation, making it impossible to get pregnant. You’ll be fine if you drink occasionally, but you shouldn’t have alcohol every day. Caffeine can also affect your hormone levels, and may make it harder to get pregnant. This can be hard for a coffee drinker. You can still have a coffee or two, but you should lay off the regular 3 to 4 cup days or drink decaf.

Get More Active

If you tend to be sedentary, then getting more exercise could help get things moving in the reproductive department. However, don’t go too hard. Excessive exercise, especially if your body isn’t used to it, can cause issues with conceiving. A brisk walk and some yoga poses every day should do the trick. Obesity is also a strong indicator of fertility problems, and exercise, along with a better diet, can help with that.

Artificial Insemination

It’s an unfortunate fact of life that aging can affect the number and quality of a woman’s eggs. While there is no way to stop this process from happening, it does not mean that you can’t have a baby. Artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization are two different ways that an egg can be safely inseminated and developed. Both methods increase a womans’ chances of getting pregnant, and are relatively painless and simple. They can be expensive, so you will have to consider your budget before pursuing this option.

Eat More Fiber

Pretty much everyone should get a healthy amount of fiber. However, it’s even more important if you are having trouble getting pregnant. Among fiber’s many functions includes removing excess hormones in the body without affecting your blood sugars. A hormone imbalance can make it hard to get pregnant. Fiber is found in many foods, such as green veggies, fruit, beans, and whole grain foods. It can be a tricky balance, however. You need to consume enough fiber but not too much. Otherwise you can create an imbalance going the other way.

Quit Smoking

You would probably quit smoking if you got pregnant, so why not start a little earlier? Cigarettes can be massively harmful to your fertility, not to mention to your health as a whole. The toxins found in cigarettes can create premature aging in your ovaries, meaning they will be unfit for pregnancy much sooner. Even if you smoke a lot and have already damaged your ovaries, you can get some function back by quitting. Therefore, there is no time like the present to kick the habit.

Take Some Multivitamins

Try as you might with your diet, there’s a chance that you aren’t getting the nutrients you need to improve your fertility. Instead of trying to force things and possibly eat food that you dislike, you can take multivitamins to compensate for your deficits. The key is to be disciplined and take your vitamins every day. Folate is an important one, as are vitamins C and D. By getting the right nutrients, whether it’s from food or from a tablet, you are setting your body up for fertility success.

There might be nothing more frustrating in the world than not being able to get pregnant when you want to. For some, it can cause deep despair and even depression. However, there are some things you can do to improve the situation. Try out these tips to see if you can finally get pregnant and start a family of your own.
