If you are from Ohio and desire to experience a different party this December 31st, you should attend one of the concerts and events we will mention in this article.

The most significant reason you should do this is that this date represents the end of this year and the beginning of the new one, and the best way to start something new is with music or laughter or even dress up for the musical performance.

That’s why we made a list of the most exciting concerts in Ohio on New Year’s Eve and some comedy shows.

 So, let’s begin our journey.

Red Wanting Blue

Also known as RWB, Red Wanting Blue is a rock band whose musical journey began in 1996 when it was formed in Athens, Ohio. However, this band relocated to Columbus in 1999, which is today’s RWB home.

This rock and roll band has been touring for almost three decades playing around 200 live concerts per year, and luckily for you, they are playing in Ohio precisely on December 31st. Scott Terry is the leader of Red Wanting Blue, and in large regard, thanks to him, this band is known as an explosive live act since he is one of the most entertaining frontmen in the music world.

RWB has 12 full-length albums to date, and what makes this band unique is their mix of rock and roll music with heartland rock and Americana. Back in 2010, they made an announcement that after 14 years of operating as an independent band, RWB would sign a contract with Fanatic Records for three albums.

If you want to experience something entirely different for New Year’s Eve, make sure to buy concert tickets in Ohio for their upcoming live show at the Goodyear Theater in Akron, Ohio.

Dave Chappelle

This legendary comedian is coming to the Value City Arena at The Schottenstein Center in Columbus on December 31st. What better way to celebrate New Year than to laugh out loud with Dave Chappelle?

Chappelle is a living legend who is considered by many comedy fans, comedians, and critics as the best comedian of today and one of the best stand-up comedians of all time.

His comedy genres include surreal humor, observational comedy, sketch comedy, satire, racial humor, insult comedy, and black comedy, while he addresses subjects such as human sexuality, American politics, African-American culture, pop culture, racism, current events, and recreational drug use.

Even though a comedian, the list of Dave Chappelle awards and nominations is quite impressive, but this isn’t a surprise since he is also an actor. He was even one of the nominees in the category Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role in the highly popular movie A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

If you want to laugh out loud all night long, you better use the best place to buy last minute concert tickets immediately since tickets for Chappelle sell out in a matter of minutes.

Tropidelic

Yet another Ohio band, Tropidelic, comes from Cleveland and has been active on the music scene since 2008.

You will have the chance to enjoy the performance of this multiple-genre band at the House Of Blues in their home city Cleveland, on December 31st. This is undoubtedly one of the best upcoming New Year’s Eve concerts since Tropidelic mixes various genres such as high-energy funk, reggae rock, hip-hop, punk rock, and everything in between. Some of their influences come from Funkadelic, Incubus, Pantera, Pepper, Mike Patton, Tom Morello, etc.

Some interesting facts about this band are that they partnered with Platform Brewing Co. in 2019 to make a winter-inspired cream ale. It was a 16-ounce can named Snow Country after their famous single.

Arlo McKinley

If you are from Ohio, you have heard about Arlo McKinley; if not, you should definitely attend his live concert on December 31st at the Bogarts in Cincinnati.

Arlo is a Cincinnati-born American country singer and songwriter who already has three albums. McKinley began singing in his family’s church choir at the age of eight, and today he is a musician with many interesting music collaborations. In fact, Arlo is the last performer signed by John Prine and Jody Whelan to the independent record label Oh Boy Records and has been the opening act and shared stages with Jason Isbell, John Moreland, Jamey Johnson, Tyler Childers, Justin Townes Earle, etc.

His latest album, This Mess We’re In, had its release this 2022, and the producer is Grammy-winning producer Matt-Ross Spang while the album features the same all-star band from his previous record Die Midwestern.

Dale Jones

Last on this list but equally entertaining is comedian Dale Jones who will perform at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Columbus.

Dale Jones makes the audience wish they had his energy since his live shows are always a night you won’t forget. His machine gun delivery with a dose of animated faces, physical comedy, and improvisations makes his performances even more unique.

Dale has had many TV appearances, including NBC – Last Comic Standing Season Six, TBS – The Very Funny Show, Fox – 30 Seconds to Fame, and recently in The Circle network’s Stand Up Live Nashville seasons 1 and 2. Furthermore, Jones is a regular on Sirius XM’s The Jeff and Larry Channel.

As for awards, Dale Jones has won at the San Diego Comedy Festival, The Antelope Valley Comedy Festival, Comedy 10K, and Laughlin Comedy Festival.

It’s time to buy tickets and attend one of these concerts or comedy shows in Ohio on December 31st if you want to experience an authentic New Year’s Eve. This day is a symbol of letting go of all the bad stuff from the previous year, and looking forward to better beginnings in the next one.

Also, it doesn’t matter if you are from Ohio since the only goal is to have fun and start 2023 with positive vibrations!
